Our charity for the 2023/2024 year is Myton Hospice
2020/2021
In a year which no one expected, a lot of our charity events were reinvented to be online. In the begging of the lockdown as a club we climbed to the summit of Everest on our stairs. In Term 1 we organised the first ever ‘Big Night In’ with many other sort clubs from campus. Throughout the year we also ran many different fun and exciting online charity events from your classic pub quiz to Family Fortunes and Taskmaster. We finished the end of the year with our annual awards dinner, which was held online. Overall we managed to raise an impressive £1063.11 for Myton Hospice who continued to provide essential care across the local area during the pandemic. The new year saw us branch out with even more charity events. In addition to our now annual quiz and shootout on the piazza, we also got involved in the Myton Charity Shop Challenge as well as a Santa Dash in first term, as well as a series of charity circles through the year.
Term 2 saw us once again get involved in our charity skills swaps, this year with Tennis and Mixed Hockey. Overall we managed to raise a brilliant £2,393.52 for Myton Hospice, who continue to do excellent work in the local area. This year, we attended and hosted a large range of charity events. Term 1 saw us raising money at our Skool Dayz charity circle as well as our 24 hour shoot out. Some of our Mixed Netballers also attended the Santa Dash at the end of term, kitting themselves up in Santa costumes to prepare themselves for the season of giving.
Term 2 saw the return of the charity tournament and in week 5 Mixed Netball, Mixed Hockey and Mixed Lacrosse all took part in a combined charity week where we all tried out each others sports, with the week ending in a pub crawl. Mixed Netballers also got dressed up to celebrate their hard work throughout the year at our charity awards dinner. We managed to raise an amazing £2221 throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who attended our events to help us raise so much and a big congrats to Lauren for organising so many amazing events! |

TERM 2 Week 5 Whilst for most of the university week 5 means RAG week, for Mixed Netball and Mixed Hockey this is our ultimate UWMNC/MXDHC week! We had a fantastic time attending Mixed Hockey's training session on Tuesday and it was amazing to see so many people at our session on Wednesday! I think it's safe to say we finished off the week in style with our joint bar crawl, completing all the challenges set by our four social secs, Ammu, Jess, Manny and Tash. We managed to raise an amazing £316.60 for our two charities - Warwickshire Young Carers' Project and Coventry Haven! Thank you for everyone that got involved in one of the best weeks of our MN calendar! |

TERM 1 Week 3 On Sunday we hosted our 'Tea in the Park' social at the Lakeside Courts, selling drinks and food to raise money for Warwickshire Young Carers' Project. It was also great to see some of our Old Boys back on the courts! Week 4 This week we took on our biggest charity event of the term - our 24 hour shootout. This required Mixed Netballers to be continually shooting throughout the 24 hour period from 4pm on Wednesday 1st November - Thursday 2nd November. Between online donations and the spare change collected throughout the 24 hours, Mixed Netball managed to raise a total of £579.29 for Warwickshire Young Carers' Project. We are absolutely ecstatic about this and we want to thank everyone who helped out shooting through the 24 hour and who donated to such a worthy cause! And a massive well done to Charlotte for organising the event!! |

TERM 2
Week 5 Term 2 saw us cavorting with our friends from Mixed Hockey as we had our joint MNC/MXDHC week. The week started well with the hockey tournament being undeterred by the rain and we were well and truly thrown in at the deep end - most of us having our hockey experience limited to extremely traumatic PE experiences many years ago. With the following day came the netball tournament. The rain managed to hold off this time (even mother nature prefers netball) and the session got off to a good start. After a quick explanation of the netball rules, the hockey players soon began to pick it up and before long it was time for the tournament to begin. In addition to some (questionable) netball tekkers, we also managed to raise about £30 by having a swear jar at the two training sessions - who knew we all had such filthy mouths. Huge thanks to everyone who owned up to their swearing and paid up! After all our strenuous training followed our joint social - pub golf, which ended the week on an all time high! On behalf of Mixed Netball we'd like to say a huge thank you to Mixed Hockey for welcoming us into their club for the week, and another thank you to everyone who came along to any or all of the joint events and donated - we raised £237 in total! Week 8 This week we were given some Kasbah tickets to sell for charity. Anyone who knows Mixed Netball knows we love our Mondays at Kasbah! Unsurprisingly, this went down a treat and we managed to raise some more money on behalf of Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre, whilst having a load of fun completing our campus challenges and heading into Coventry! |

TERM 1
Week 3 On Wednesday 19th October, we had our first charity event of the year. Our POP! theme 'On Wednesdays we wear pink' allowed everyone to come dressed in their favourite pink outfits, and we raised money on behalf of the 'Wear it Pink' Breast Cancer Campaign. As you can see from the pictures, we had a lot of fun, and raised over £50 through pint nominations throughout the night! A huge thank you to all those who showed support and donated, and an even bigger thank you to our Charities Officer Issy who organised the nominations and the collection. Week 9 As Christmas loomed, we headed on down to our favourite Leamington hangout - Kelsey's. But this time for a different reason, as we competed in the famous MN Charity Christmas Quiz. This gave us the chance to show off the academic prowess that we'd been working so hard on all year! We raised money for this year's chosen charity - Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre - through pint nominations, mini games and of course our raffle. As well as raising a load of money, we also won some fantastic prizes, including a £50 voucher for experiencedays.co.uk, Nando's vouchers, hair cuts and champagne! |
