Match Reports for Our Development Team
Warwick VS. LSE Friendly
08/03/2022
On Tuesday 8th March our devs squad travelled down to London to have a friendly match against LSE. We had a squad of 10, a mix of experienced players and those who are new this year to netball so this was a really great experience for our squad to get some experience of a competitive(ish) match! Our starting 7s from GS to GK were Oscar, Ellie, Imogen, Manish, Abi, Jocelyn and Joao.
In the first quarter we were up by 1 with a total score of 11-10. Despite losing in the first few minutes, our team chemistry quickly came through and we had some fantastic shooting and great interceptions with Jocelyn and Joao working hard in the defensive D. We continued with the starting 7 until half time where we were up by 6 with a score of 20-14. Manish and Imogen were key in working the ball to goal and keeping the team focused!
We then swapped on two of our fantastic subs Alba and Tristan who had been cheering our team on throughout the match. The third quarter continued to go well, with our subs providing new energy and options in the match. We finished the third quarter up by 8 with a score of 29-21. In the final quarter we swapped on our final sub Alex, and gave Imogen a well deserved rest. This was the hardest quarter for our team as we were getting tired and Manish had an injury so we made a very last minute swap to fill in for him, with Abi filling in at centre!
LSE has swapped on two very tall guys at centre and in the last quarter we were down by 6 with a final score of 37-31 to LSE. This was a tough loss for us, however the team did so well to keep their heads up and focus on improvements for future matches.
Player of the match went to Tristan for a fantastic effort as GK. Despite being new to netball he gave 100% effort on and off the court and never failed to make us laugh. We also bumped into Colyn which was such a nice surprise. Our dev squad trains every Monday and Saturday and is currently working for the National Competition in August.
